The Yell Softly Interviews

The Yell Softly Interviews aim to introduce readers to interesting people doing extraordinarily interesting things.  These aren’t celebrities or socialites, but people from around the world who can inspire us all with their verve, wit and personality.    From business owners to writers, bon vivants to teachers, each interview aims to inspire and prove that the ordinary is, in fact, extraordinary.

See a full list of the interviews here.

Each interview contains the Yell Softly Questions.  Here are my answers.  I’d love to hear yours in the comments.

What are your necessities? stacks of books, dark chocolate, smooth pens, fine notebooks, thick notecards, leopard print ballet flats,  Frasier re-runs, music, spicy perfume, silk scarves, red lipstick, and a large leather handbag to lug it all around in.

Nothing smells better than. . . fresh-cut Christmas trees, old-fashioned carnations, patisseries, early mornings after a thunderstorm

Nothing tastes better than. . . hot bread with butter and marmalade

Nothing feels better than . . . silk pajamas; jumping in a pool after lying in the sun; a night of dancing

I’d rather be polite than phony

If you could live in any other epoch, which would it be? I’m pretty happy with this one although I think I’d have been a killer flapper.

What work of art or literature (a book, song, poem etc.) changed your life?  T.S. Eliot’s Four Quartets; The Wizard of Oz

If you could jump into any painting, à la Mary Poppins, which would you choose?

This is a hard question!  I think I’d have to choose Mme Kupka among Verticals by František Kupka.  It’s glamourous and mesmerizing, and I can’t imagine anything better than being saturated and surrounded by such vivid colour.

Oh, Sariah. We are kindred spirits. Only my mother could tell you how many consecutive Halloweens I wore my great-grandmother’s flapper dress.

I’m loving these interviews, your blog, your fashion addiction and your dreams of moving to Paris. Can we be neighbors? I cannot wait to meet you in Positano!
